I have been avoiding this like the plague. Seriously. Everyone else I know is doing it, I read several of them a day, and I have so many ideas for one but I keep avoiding it. However, I am finally taking the plunge. Yes, I am officially beginning my journey as a blogger. February is my birthday month so I thought that this would be a great time to debut my little blog. Yikes! So now what?
I am not a risk taker. Some people may think I am because I verbally will put myself out there but that is a whole lot different than actually doing something. Writing a blog is a huge risk in my opinion. I don’t like to be judged and writing a blog is clearly an open invitation to judgment. I also am pretty private (for those who know me well….stop laughing!) But really, I am. I have also resisted venturing into blog land because honestly, will anyone REALLY care about what I have to say and WANT to read what I write? I am being serious. I do not want to do this for some egotistical, self indulgent reason. I honestly would like to write about topics and issues that my readers can glean some wisdom from and hopefully use. I do not want this to be a voyeuristic type of blog so you will not catch me discussing day to day life unless it pertains directly to the topic I am writing about. This blog WILL be based on personal experiences as it relates to the selected topic however, do not expect lots of personal family-life, day-to-day activities type of blogging. To that end, “Tiny” is the name that I will use for my sweet little girl (22 months as of today’s publishing).
So onto the burning question…what exactly will this blog be about? A good question indeed my dear readers! I believe that this blog will be a work in progress, an evolutionary type of blog so to speak. I want to see where it goes and what types of posts my readers enjoy most. I would like to address parenting – no holds barred. I won’t use this as a platform to instruct you on HOW to parent but I will certainly make my viewpoints clear as day. When possible, I will support my philosophies and approaches with documentation from books I have read, articles I have found as well as other blog posts that have inspired me. I know that I have been inspired by many parenting blogs and I would love to be able to bring insight and awareness to other parents out there! I would also love to share my unfolding knowledge on nutrition and eating a traditional diet. (More on what a traditional diet is in upcoming posts). I have been amazed at what I have learned in the past year about food. Really. I think the majority of you will be stupefied about what eating a traditional diet really means. The other topic I would like to cover in my blog pertains to saving money. I have worked my behind off this past year to save our family tons of money. I have done so successfully. You might find my approaches helpful in your quest to save money. If you are so fortunate to not have to worry about this, simply skip over those posts and send me a check for $100. J Finally, I am more than happy to address any questions you might have and be interested in hearing my opinion on. So please email those to me. I will address one or two of these a month (if I have that many).
My goal is to write one new post a week, more if I can but I am already pretty busy with Tiny and don’t have tons of free time. I will also share a recipe or two with you each month. Some of these will be my creations, some will be recipes I have found and loved and other may very well be links to recipe blogs where I have stumbled on a marvelous recipe that I think you should try. All of my recipes will be EASY and cost effective because that is what I am into these days. They will also follow a traditional way of eating.
I hope you enjoy this venture of mine. I am scared to death but believe that I will find my comfort zone and stride pretty quickly. So thank you for embarking on this journey with me! It should be a great ride!
Blessings,
The Hybrid Rasta Mama
