I am chalk full of random musings today. My mind can’t stop talking to me. It’s actually a little annoying. I’m tired of listening to myself! J Here are a few of my wandering thoughts for you to read through! After I have exhausted your brains, I will announce the giveaway winner!
I was thinking about when I used to work full time, back before Tiny came on the scene. I traveled a lot and worked long hours. I always had a VERY difficult time getting out of bed in the morning. It didn’t matter what time it was. I could never manage to get up on time. The snooze button and I were good friends. I was always racing around, trying to pack, trying to make it to the airport on time (or to the office) or wherever I had to go. I was in a mad rush. Now, even when Tiny wakes up at 4:00am ready to take on the world, I have little problem popping out of bed and getting my day started. I think it is safe to assume that I love my mommy gig and that the work gig wasn’t all that appealing and therefore, not worth getting up for!
I tried these new cookies from Trader Joes against my better judgment. They were actually a treat for my husband (part of my March of Kindness acts) but I ended up eating one. And then another. And another. And another. Well, you get the idea. These little bites of heaven are unprecedented. They are called Pinachios and it is a rich butter cookie with white chocolate and pistachios. Ridiculously good. And I am NOT a cookie person, at all. If you like pistachios then you really need to try these. But be warned…you will eat a lot of them!
I am having a burning desire to finish my back tattoo. It would be fine if I left it as is. In fact, to everyone but me, it probably looks finished. But there are two little spaces that I have a specific idea for. I also have something really amazing planned for my thigh. However, I am still breastfeeding so that will have to wait.
Speaking of breastfeeding…wanna hear a funny thing Tiny does? I only taught her ONE baby sign and that was milk. For the past 4 months, whenever she wants milk at night (which is pretty much every hour or two all night – yes, you read that right and yes, she is almost two years old) she signs in her sleepy grogginess. I always know she is doing it but sometimes I ignore it for a minute. If she doesn’t get the milkies right away then the signing gets louder. It’s like a flap, flap sound. And then it moves right next to my ear. If I still don’t respond, Tiny will sign on my cheek. A hybrid of signing and braille I assume. By then I am moving into position and fast! The next step is full fledge “I’m awake” crying and mama doesn’t encourage that!
And sort of related to breastfeeding…when Tiny is having her milkies she HAS TO rub my bare belly. HAS TO. As in, not an option. I dress to accommodate this. She also HAS TO touch my bare skin (stomach, back, or side) when I am changing her diaper or giving her comfort cuddles. She also does it when I am holding her and there are strangers around. It’s pretty sweet and stems from all of the skin-on-skin bonding we did when she was a wee one. She still needs my skin as a comfort. Sometimes she will just walk over to me, lift up my shirt and rub my belly. I feel like Buddha. Ha! Maybe I should rename my blog to Hybrid Rasta Buddha. (My belly after baby resembles a Buddha belly too.) I think that if the shoe fits…
Are any of you participating in the March of Kindness? I have been successful of doing at least one random, kind act each day so far. Some have been geared towards my daughter, some towards my husband, some towards me and quite a few towards perfect strangers. At the end of the month I will share some of the highlights.
Well – I think that is enough from my today! Have a great week and get ready for some “woe is me” posts coming soon. My baby is going to be 2 on Saturday and I am already teary eyed over the whole thing. L and J It’s bittersweet as you parents know!
