I am a bit of a neat freak. It actually got a little more intense of Tiny arrived on the scene. I was known to obsessively remove every piece of dog hair, cat hair, lint, dust, and dirt from every conceivable nook and cranny of our home. I blame it on post-partum hormones because even though I love a clean house, I was NEVER that over-the-top about it.
Over the past three years I have refined my cleaning system. Once Tiny could walk, she basically had to help with all the cleaning. She was usually content to dust but when she figured out how to climb up on stuff, she really wanted to get into the thick of cleaning. Especially if it involved a spray bottle.
Green and natural living have been priorities for me for many years. Although giving up my chemicals cleaners was a little tough at first, having Tiny gave me a new awareness of how important it is to keep chemicals out of my home. I wasn’t worried about her getting into them. I was worried about them getting onto her!
For the past couple of years I have either made my own cleaners (mostly vinegar and/or baking soda based with essential oils mixed in) or purchased eco-friendly cleaners after researching the heck out of the companies making them. These various cleaners have all worked well and Tiny is so glad to be able to help.
The one area that I was having a bit of trouble with were my kitchen counters. It seemed like no matter what I cleaned with, certain stains were staying put. I tried every potion I could think of but eventually just gave up. The good thing is that we have granite countertops that really hide stains well. The bad news is that I can see them and they drive me bonkers!
Tropical Traditions offered me the opportunity to test out their glass and surface cleaner. I was thrilled to do this because I wanted to see if it would work on my counters. I also wanted to see how well it cleaned glass since vinegar does tend to get a little streaky from time to time.
Before I share my experience with this cleaner, here are a few reasons why I was already excited about this product before it even arrived:
- It is ammonia free, alcohol free, and has no harsh solvents
- It has ZERO volatile organic compounds
- It contains no fragrances or dyes
- It is non-streaking
- It can be used alone – no rinsing required (something that I hated to have to do with a few other cleaners I tried out)
- It can be used on ALL glass inside and outside the home as well as treated glass, auto glass (even tinted), plexiglass, and light fixtures
- As a surface cleaner, it can be used on literally everything including chrome, vinyl, stainless steel, plastic, porcelain, countertops, walls, floors, appliances, pleather, computer screens, and much more!
As soon as the product arrived, I set to work on the offending countertop. In my haste, I failed to take a before and after photo but the Tropical Traditions glass and surface cleaner actually got some of the older stains mostly out. There is still a little bit of a hint of the stain but that is ok. I am just pleased that most of it is gone.
I decided to test it out on our leather chairs at our dining table. Supposedly these are real leather but I am not convinced. The wear and tear on them after just a few years leads me to believe we were duped. But I digress.
I wanted to see how safe this cleaner is on sensitive surfaces, like leather. I held my breath, sprayed it on, wiped it off and….clean! The chairs actually kind of glistened a little. They might have smiled. I swear!
Chalk full of confidence I headed over to the laptop that I am sitting at right now. I closed my eyes, sprayed a tiny bit on the screen, wiped it off, turned it on and let out a sigh of relief. Not only was my screen clean but my computer still worked! Even better, the screen seems to be resisting dust and fingerprints better than it did. That was an unexpected bonus!
