While I was pregnant with Tiny, I gained a ton of weight. 70+ pounds to be more specific. To add insult to injury, I was also in really great physical shape before Tiny began her womb journey but due to a crazy long bout with 24-hour sickness and constant travel for my job, I simply did not have the energy or wherewithal to continue working out.
So my body went to heck…quickly.
Once I exploded outward, my abdominals tore pretty severely. Diastasis Recti (abdominal tearing) is not uncommon during pregnancy. Most of the time it heals after the birth of your baby. However, some tears are so severe that they cannot heal properly on their own. Improper exercise will exacerbate the problem.
My diastasis recti is severe. I can literally push 4 fingers into the separation with room to spare on either side. If I lay flat on my back and barely lift up into a sit up type move, my intestines pop out. Yeah – bad stuff right?
I have been searching and searching for a DVD program that is tailored towards helping moms with diastasis recti. I wanted both a core workout to help repair my tear but I also wanted some sort of total body workout that was quick, didn’t require all kinds of equipment, and that I could theoretically do alongside my daughter (now 3 years old).
Lindsay Brin’s Moms Into Fitness series came into my radar. So I asked them if I could review Boot Camp 2 and the CFS Method DVDs. To my delight, they were excited for me to try these DVDs out!
I’m going to cut right to the chase. These DVDs are the best work outs I have EVER done (DVD wise). I absolutely hate trying to follow along on DVD. I am the type of person that does much better with hands on instruction.
Lindsay Brin has not only created work outs that are easy to learn and follow but they work! I admit, I already knew the proper form for all of the exercises as I was a gym rat with a personal trainer pre-pregnancy. (Don’t get all weird on me over that…I was in a bad car accident and had to have supervision when working out so I did not mess myself up). But even if I had no clue what a shoulder press was, I would be able to properly complete one with Lindsay’s instruction.
One of my favorite things is that these DVDs aren’t super cheesy. Yeah, Lindsay and her assistants are total eye candy, and Lindsay has an adorable accent, BUT the work outs are serious business, created to get you in shape in less than 20 minutes a few times per week.
Both DVDs are serious business too. I knew I was out of shape but I had no clue how bad it was. My butt is dragging after the workouts! No joke!
So what exactly are the DVDs all about?
The Core Firing Sequence (CFS Method) DVD is a tummy tuck without the surgery! This instructional video is not your traditional ab training. The innovative techniques will teach your muscles how to fire from the inside-out. You will also find exercises safe for Diastasis Recti.
