A baby needed our help. A baby who was born at 27.5 weeks gestation. A baby who clearly has a purpose on this planet. A baby who is part of my extended family.
I put a call out to all of you and not only did you respond, but you all blew me away with your generosity, willingness to help spread the word, non-monetary donations, words of support and encouragment, resource recommendations, and so much more.
You blew my mind and restored my faith in humanity.
You have moved me to tears and left Baby Sean’s family completely overwhelmed with the love, support, and kindness that has come their way.
In short – you have had a huge impact on this amazing family. You have changed the course of their lives after they were thrown into such a challenging situation.
I wanted to share an update on Baby Sean. Grab a tissue because you will shed a few tears of joy.
On Thursday afternoon, I got this message from Caroline…
I’m here at the hospital i got to hold him for the first time YAY ME!!, i cried, he was so tiny, but so soft and so mine…i held him for almost an hour and a half….his doctor came in and said, the surgeon thinks he doesn’t need to have surgery for his bowel, it looks like its all coming out on its own, he does have a billiruben trouble, it may have something to do with his liver, so they are waiting for a specialist to come and check him out…he still forgets to breathe every once and a while, but that’s normal for preemie babies…other then that he is now 1pound 15oz, and doctor says he is doing good, still no word yet on when he can eat, but i am constantly pumping him milk.
My heart swelled with happiness and love. I KNOW the feeling of finally getting to hold your baby and I know that it transcends all words. I emailed Caroline to let her know that we were getting close to the $1,000 mark. And the later that evening I got this…
OMG!!! with tears dropping. Non stop …..OMG!! OMG!! I cant believe it, Toni and I are like we don’t know what to say, but THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, and THANK YOU to all and everyone who has donated or shared the link to carry this on, WOW!! My Baby Sean loved by many, and around the world, he is truly a blessing, and like you said these medical challenges are nothing for him, cause he is a fighter, and even though he has a tiny heart, i know he is fighting with all he’s got and with that tiny heart to beat all those challenges…..WOW!! We are forever grateful for all you have done…
Followed by this…
11 days after his birth i finally get to hold My miracle skin to skin ….. Tears of joy and a feeling and moment i will treasure forever…i wish i didn’t have to put him back in the bed, but after an hour and a half, the nurse said it was time for him to go back…
I’m crying again….Baby Sean really is a fighter and the fact that he is doing this well and beating the obstacles in front of him is such a relief.
Enjoy these beautiful photos of the love between a mother and her son.
