Have a cut or burn?
Grab the Lavender Essential Oil!
Did you know that lavender is known as the “universal oil?”
If in doubt, use lavender. Young Living Lavender essential oil is an oil that every person should have. It is an antiseptic, antibacterial, sedative, anti-inflammatory oil and no family or home should be without this oil. I wonder how I ever lived with out it. Since I have been using essential oils, I can’t imagine my life without them, nor do I ever want to.
When we have a cut or a burn, we run for our lavender oil. Lavender oil and burns have a long history. Greeks and Romans used lavender for burns in ancient times. A French chemist Rene Maurice Gattefosse in the early 1900s was working in his lab and burned his hand severely. He then stuck his hand in a nearby container of lavender oil. At the time, he thought it was water, but later found out it was lavender oil. He discovered his hand not only stopped hurting, it healed faster and didn’t scar.
First degree and some second degree burns can be helped quickly and simply. When it is a minor burn, you can use lavender oil safely and naturally to treat it. Not only will lavender help fight infections, lessen blistering and scarring, and promote healing, it will also help relax you. When you have burned yourself, your emotions will rise, so lavender helps keep you calm. For larger burns, pour lavender oil onto a gauze or cloth and apply to the burn every few hours.
When it comes to cuts/wounds, we use lavender oil as well. Having children means someone is always getting a cut or a scrape. If it is not my children, it is a friend of theirs. Lavender helps heal a wound due to its antibacterial cleansing properties. Simply place a drop or two of lavender oil directly on the cut and re apply every few hours, as needed.
