Call me picky. OK, discerning. Nah – conscious is more like it. I am extraordinarily conscious about what I put on and in my body.
When it comes to personal care products, I prefer to make my own. This way, I know exactly what is going into what I put onto my body! But sometimes, life gets in the way and I need to purchase bar soap, shampoo, a lotion and the like. There are also certain items that I just do not enjoy making.
Over the years, I have tried natural products from several different companies. While they have been decent, I wasn’t exactly clamoring to place a second order. Then It’s Naturally Pure came onto my radar.
It’s Naturally Pure is a one of a kind company. Although a lot of companies claim to uphold certain standards and follow certain guidelines, It’s Naturally Pure really truly follows through. All of their products meet and exceed the standards set by the Natural Products Association. In addition, all of the ingredients used in their products as well as the products themselves are sustainable and meet fair trade requirements.
It’s Naturally Pure’s Mission Statement is beautiful: To bring to you the best products that are pure, natural, healthy and friendly to the environment. We will also seek out partnerships with companies whose products are made with socially responsible values: fair and sustainable trade, ecologically aware, support of impoverished craftspeople, and local production.
Their Vision Statement is equally amazing: Our vision is to encourage and promote an economy deeply rooted in natural, organic and socially responsible commerce. We want to make it easy for you to encourage socially responsible companies and as consumers send out a loud and positive message that will be heard.
The company was started by Marie, a woman inspired by the loss of her dear friend to breast cancer. Marie was determined to steer clear of a similar fate. After learning more about the effects of chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products, she vowed to not only stop using these personally, but to also open a store which carried a completely safe, all natural product line. She spent countless hours researching products, the companies behind the products, and their ethics and standards. What she has created is a store which carries 100% natural products at affordable prices that everyone can feel good about purchasing.
From baby care, to foot care, to hair care, to makeup, to sunscreen, to room sprays, It’s Naturally Pure has a full line of top rated natural products. Thanks to the generosity of Marie (and her husband Fernando), I have been able to try many of their products. Today, I would like to share a few of these with you!
I am pretty married to my coconut oil/essential oil deodorant blend but was offered the chance to try the Purple Prairie All Natural Deodorant. I have never “loved” natural deodorants but I use them because I refuse to use anything with aluminum in it. I decided to try this out for the first time on a day when I had to have a medical procedure. Basically, I was going to be sweating like crazy!
I didn’t go too wild applying the deodorant but it is safe to say I added an extra layer just in case. I am pleased to report that this stuff WORKS! Seriously. The Purple Prairie Deodorant has an essential oil blend of Teatree, Lavender and Anise oils which come together to create a really effective combination. After a rather intense medical procedure, I walked away swelling like “me” and not like someone who failed to bathe for a month. I also didn’t sweat an unusual amount, considering. I am really glad to have this in my personal care arsenal and even got my husband to give it a whirl. He is super sensitive to deodorants but this also worked very well for him!
Another product I tried was the Purple Prairie Shampoo Bar in Cedarwood and Tea Tree. I. Am. In. Love. Hardcore. I have been a baking soda and apple cider vinegar mama for a couple of years now. It is the only thing I let touch my hair. But the shampoo bar looked interesting, so I stepped outside of my baking soda ways and gave the shampoo bar a fair shake. WOW. Just wow.
This shampoo bar is the next best thing to sliced bread. It got my hair so clean, left it so soft, and kept it from getting oily by the end of the day. My hair was shiny and my daughter could not stop smelling it. In fact, she has a love affair with the shampoo bar too! I will only be using my baking soda and apple cider vinegar regimen a couple of times per month. From now on it’s the Purple Prairie Shampoo Bar!
I don’t wear much makeup although sometimes it is nice to have a little tint on my lips and mascara to enhance my lashes (and draw attention away from the mama-needs-more-sleep circles accumulating under my eyes). Marie and Fernando were kind enough to send over samples of their Earth’s Beauty Mascara and Purple Prairie Tinted Lip Balms.
The Earth’s Beauty mascara’s natural ingredient lineup has me wondering if it would really work. It just didn’t seem like it would work as well as those bad-for-you brands. I mean, it certainly wasn’t going to be waterproof. Much to my surprise, the Earth’s Beauty mascara held its own. It coated the lashes nicely and didn’t clump. It had the perfect amount of tint without looking cakey. The only drawback is that it does take a bit longer to dry, leaving you open for smears if you aren’t being careful. Also, it is not waterproof but it does take a little effort to wash it off. So it stays on fairly well.
The tinted lip balms are awesome! They smell great, look great, taste great, and make your lips feel great! My lips have been so soft from using the lip balms for the past month. They are not greasy or slippery and they give your lips a subtle tint that lasts quite a while. Plus, they don’t leave marks on water glasses like lipsticks do. My daughter loves the lip balms and actually took a small nibble of one. She declared it “tasty.” I think this in itself gives it a top rating!
It’s Naturally Pure also sent over several other products for me to test out, but I will be featuring those on my own blog soon! What I will share is that their baby products are incredibly nourishing and soothing and their hand sanitizer is one of the best I have ever tried!
You can purchase your own natural products at It’s Naturally Pure. Everything offered is very affordable. In fact, it would be hard to find similar quality products at prices this low.
