By now, most anyone reading my blog knows that the coconut oil produced for and sold by Tropical Traditions is truly my go-to coconut oil. It was the first coconut oil I tried and for reasons I have discussed in other coconut oil giveaway posts, it is a truly wonderful company with a great product. I kind of have a crush on the company if I am being honest.
The thing is, Tropical Traditions does not JUST deal in coconut oil and coconut products. They are a very diverse company offering a myriad of products. I have ordered a lot of different items from them in the past and for the past few months have really been loving their household products. Being the green living, crunchy mama that I am, I thought that I would take their Oxygen Bleach for a test drive to see if it holds up to the version I swear by.
The wonderful folks at Tropical Traditions were more than happy to send a container my way. Before I share my experience with the Tropical Traditions detergent, let me tell you a little bit about their product.
Tropical Traditions Oxygen Bleach is a safe and effective alternative to chlorine based products and it can be used in many applications in and around the home. It is based on sodium percarbonate which uses oxygen for destaining and deodorizing. Oxygen Bleach is safe to use at all temperatures, on most washable fabrics, and all colors, in hard or soft water, and is compatible with other household cleaners. Also, it produces no harmful by-products which negatively affect the environment. Unlike chlorine bleach, which can merely cover up a stain, Tropical Traditions Oxygen Bleach attacks and breaks down organic stains to totally remove them from the garment.
The most exciting thing about the Oxygen Bleach (at least to me) is that you can use it for a TON of stuff…not just laundry! Sure, it whitens and deodorizes all of your laundry but did you know you can also use it in the kitchen to keep your drains and disposals clear and fresh smelling? It works as a tough cleaner in the bathroom, getting out countertop stains, mildew on shower curtains, cleaning out septic systems and more! It is safe to use as a carpet cleaner, urine remover, and mold killer. Along with many more household uses, it has a ton of uses outside too! I had no idea you could clean your wood deck with it!
Ok, sounds pretty good right?
But how does it really work?
Of course I put the Oxygen Bleach through its paces with my laundry. I had some grimy looking, greyish kitchen towels that needed a pick-me-up! I think the Oxygen Bleach earned its keep! The towels certainly looked a lot less dingy!
I also added it to a load of my husband’s stinky work clothes. While it didn’t get his jeans sparkly new, it did a really good job of getting some dirt stains out that had been there for a while. They aren’t totally gone, but they are faded.
I took the Oxygen Bleach on a stain fighting expedition around my home as well. We hit up the carpet, a couple of bathtub stains, a few wall stains, and a counter top stain. The Oxygen Bleach did an amazing job on the carpets! In fact, I think I want to use it all over the house as a pre-treatment before cleaning my carpets again. There are some really bright white patches of carpet all over so I know it will do a great job!
The Oxygen Bleach worked really well on wall stains without stripping off the paint. The bathtub stains didn’t really come off, but I expected that. Our tub is finicky. The counter top stains did fade which was great! There was some hair dye from long ago that made a home on my bathroom counter and the Oxygen Bleach lifted it right up! I cannot even see where the stain used to be.
Just as I was about to write up this review, one of my cats peed all over his litter box rug! I cleaned the area with diluted Oxygen Bleach and it took the smell away quickly. Phew!
Overall, I am really impressed with this product. It does what it say it will do and without any harsh chlorine! I will be adding this to my natural cleaning arsenal for sure!
Want to win your OWN Oxygen Bleach? Well, you can thanks to the generosity of the good folks at Tropical Traditions.

And because I am a coconut oil fanatic (remember my 333 Uses for Coconut Oil post), I want to make sure that you do check out some of the great information on the Tropical Traditions site about coconut oil. After all, they are the best place to purchase virgin coconut oil! So head over to their site where you can learn more about what virgin coconut oil actually is as well as how to use it! And of course you can check out their three different types of coconut oil including Gold Label Coconut Oil, Green Label Coconut Oil, and Expeller Pressed Coconut Oil. FYI – the FDA does not want us to discuss the health benefits of coconut oil on a page where it is being sold or given away, here is the best website to read about the health benefits of coconut oil.

I have used TT’s laundry detergent for awhile and love it … but I’ve never tried the oxygen bleach. I’d love to give my whites a boost. I’d also like to try it for mold/mildew which we have a problem with … and vinegar just doesn’t do a great job. Thanks for this opportunity!
