Today I would like to take the time to share a few of my favorite real food recipe resources that are an integral part of the Health Library Bundle Sale! Now I know that one of my top reasons that YOU should own this bundle was that it wasn’t recipe book focused, but I do think that the products in this bundle that are recipe based are phenomenal, unique, and absolutely worth adding to your library.
I have reviewed every item in this bundle. Please recognize that this is different than MAKING recipes from every recipe resource in this bundle. There simply isn’t time for that. However, I have a keen eye for a well-crafted recipe that is flavorful, family friendly, and simple. What I am sharing are my thoughts on four specific items and why I think they are worth owning and using.
First up – Baking With Coconut Flour by Starlene Stewart.
I kid you not – I would pay $39.97 for this book alone! Substituting coconut flour in a recipe is very difficult. I’m sure you have had that experience if you have ever tried. It takes a lot of trial and error to get it right and even then, there are a lot of variables that can make your calculations null and void the next time you attempt the same recipe. I am getting better and better at using coconut flour but it still take a lot of patience and experimentation for me to get a recipe to turn out consistently well.
Starlene starts her book off giving you all the information you will need to better understand coconut flour. She outlines why it is so different than wheat flour and gives you a simple breakdown on the weight and volume difference between different brands of coconut flour. It is really eye opening and explains why you can have inconsistencies in how much coconut flour to use if you switch from brand to brand.
If you want to have a better shot at successfully substituting coconut flour in your favorite recipes, Starlene helps guide you through a series of steps you will need to take before determining your measurements. I actually picked up several tips that I was blissfully unaware of. She also gives you a step-by-step conversion guide that will blow your mind. Now I feel like I can take on the coconut flour world and you will too!
Honestly, the background information, the how-tos, and the tutorials alone make this book a must-own. You just are NOT going to find this much information, presented in such a reader friendly manner, anywhere else.
There is second great reason to own this book though. The recipe. Ahh – the recipes. I am familiar with Starlene’s brilliance in the kitchen and let me assure you that there is NOTHING, nothing at all in her recipe collection that is not incredible. Seriously. Starlene does not create recipes that won’t be a hit with your entire family!
Your family and friends will thank you for creating recipes from this eBook. You will thank yourself even more than you are one step closer to becoming a coconut flour aficionado. And in case you were wondering, my favorite coconut flour is this one from Tropical Traditions. (63 pages: $18.95)
