Last month I told you that my health was getting pretty boring – which is great news for me! Since it was getting rather boring, I figured that I would update you all on an as needed bases and not every month.
Well, I do have something to share. It is actually my game plan going forward and it is really interesting…to me anyway! My health coach Lydia is having me tackle a 30 day blood sugar challenge. Although my colitis is now under control, there are other less obvious health issues to address, blood sugar being one of them. So starting Monday, I will being on a super low sugar diet to reset my system. From there, we will be able to get a better handle on what else I have going on. I will also be having gobs of blood work done this month which should be telling.
In addition to my brief health update, I wanted to share a couple of products I stumbled on recently. I am NOT an affiliate for any of these products. These are just a few great things I wanted to share!
First, a lovely woman contacted me to see if I might like to try one of her handmade cloth wipes. I have personally been using cloth instead of toilet paper for almost two years now and after checking out her website, was really intrigued with the design of her wipe.
Bequin, the creator of WiseWombOnWipes, is such a special soul. She deeply cares for our planet and set out creating reusable cloth wipes as a way to keep chemicals from paper products off her body but to also keep them out of our earth as well. The design is really cool! It is a drop shape (to catch the drips after all) and can be hung up and reused a few times before washing (unless you are wiping away more than just a dribble of pee). Check out her blog post about her wipe routine. It is actually pretty interesting and takes going green to a whole different level.
These wipes are not yet for sale but I hope that they will be soon! They are hands down my favorite cloth wipes both for comfort and ease of use. Plus they are really well made!
Another product that I am in LOVE with is the Purple Prairie Peaceful Prairie Body Oil with Lavender, YlangYlang, and Chamomile essential oils. Holy. Wow. I have never smelled anything as divine as this in my life. I love to put this on when I am feeling stressed as well as right before bed. I also rub a little on Tiny to help ease her into sleep. She loves it as much as I do!
My go-to source for this oil is Its Naturally Pure, a wonderful online store with every natural personal care product imaginable. You probably recognize the name. I have done a couple of giveaways from them in the past. I also want to mention how much I enjoy their hand sanitizer, also from Purple Prairie brand. Most hand sanitizers leave my hands feeling a bit parched. This one is more like a lotion and it leaves my hands germ free and feeling really nourished!
As you are likely aware, eVitamins.com sends me one product every month to try out. I never know what I will receive which makes it pretty fun! This month, I opened the package and found a pack of Tea Tree Chewing Sticks. Now, I am not the toothpick kind of person BUT I used to chew on these pieces of wood that you could find at cultural festivals in my area and remember how clean they got my teeth. Rasta Daddy got me hooked on them and while I cannot remember the name of these wood pieces, I do remember them having a slight cinnamon flavor.
The Tea Tree Chewing Sticks I received have a very similar flavor to the wood. It is the faintest cinnamon and really helps to freshen your breath. The tea tree provides a lot of germ fighting properties, making it a healthy addition to your oral hygiene. While I am not a smoker or a gum chewer, I suspect that that if I were, this would make a healthy replacement for either. Check them out if you are looking for something to freshen breath and prefer not to chew gum.
And those are a few of my favorite things this month! I hope you check them out too!
Last, but certainly not least, is a HUGE thank you to Latisha from Herb Mother. Unbeknownst to me, the photo I found on a stock photo website, and used as the cover image for my Salves Made Simple eBook, was illegally added to that stock site. Latisha was not the person to share it on that site and when she saw the cover of my book, alerted me that this was her photo which was not intended for commercial use. I take copy write law seriously, immediately changed the cover, and asked Latisha how I could rectify the situation. After all, there were copies of Salves Made Simple that had already been distributed as part of the Health Library Sale. Latisha is an amazing, forgiving person and truly wanted nothing but the cover changed. But that was not enough for me. So today, I am asking you to check out her website, Facebook page, and Etsy shop. I think you will like her a lot! She has a great free eBook on herbs as well.
