My NEW Handmade in the U.S.A. Continuous Brew Kombucha Stoneware Crock

I never thought that I would be in love with a piece of stoneware…pottery if you will. I don’t normally find myself getting all tingly over material possessions. But then, I met my new Handmade Artisanal Kombucha Crock from Kombucha Kamp (my new affiliate partner).

I recently decided to make the switch to continuous brew Kombucha (find out why next month as I start a new series on Kombucha on my blog).  I knew that Hannah, the Mother of Kombucha Makers, from Kombucha Kamp had a new stoneware crock available. I checked it out and the rest is history.

Waiting for the crock was a lesson in patience. Since each piece is made when ordered, it can take a few weeks before your new love, er, crock, is shipped. I had selected a red and green color scheme with deep yellow engraving. Very “rasta inspired” to be sure. I mean, if I was going to invest in the finest Kombucha crock on the market, you better believe I was going to do so in rasta fashion.

When my crock arrived I was elated. I wanted to tear into the box but decided instead to wait until Tiny was occupied, lest we have a second set of excited hands unintentionally breaking things. My concerns were unfounded. This baby is rock solid! Now, I would not suggest heaving it against your brick patio or anything but it can take a little bump along the way. (Ahem, not that I would actually know this or anything, ahem.)

How would you like to see my crock? Check out this view of my Kombucha crock in nature…

Gorgeous, isn’t she?

And here is a close up on the kitchen counter where she lives. I actually rearranged my entire kitchen to accommodate her. I did not want ANYTHING else anywhere near her.

And here is another wide-angle view of my baby underneath the cabinet that houses all of my SCOBY hotels. Yes, I have two full hotels and one in the making. And I give away a ton of SCOBY babies as well. My mothers’ procreate like rabbits.

While the initial price of the Handmade Crock might give you pause, I can assure you that it is well worth it. The crock itself is incredibly beautiful. It is a true work of art that can become the centerpiece of your kitchen. Seriously, it is a conversation piece.

The crock is also very well made, will withstand a few bumps and bangs (but please try not to make a habit of rough-housing with your crock), and should honestly last a lifetime. It is easy to assemble (basically just pop the cork spigot in place and allow it to expand) and won’t leak. Even when filled to capacity with sweet tea and your SCOBY, it is not that heavy. I was able to move it around without feeling like I was going to drop it.

There are many packages available if you are interested in beginning your continuous brew Kombucha adventure. I went with the Deluxe Package even though I had most of what was needed to make the switch to a continuous brew system. I thought it would be best to start fresh and Hannah’s products have a reputation for being very high quality. (Just one whiff of her tea blend told me that this Kombucha was probably going to be the best batch I ever created).

In addition to incredible products, the customer support offered will blow you away.

Not only do you get instructional videos (VERY helpful both for the newbie and the seasoned Kombucha maker) but you also get Hannah’s coveted 132 page eBook about all things related to making and enjoying Kombucha. I actually learned a TON from it. In addition, certain packages come with LIVE support from Hannah. Yep – you can get a phone consultation with Hannah which trust me, is really worth your time to take advantage of. Hannah is a wealth of information, so friendly, and her enthusiasm and love for the art of Kombucha making is contagious.

Next week I will share the results of my first batch of continuous brew Kombucha (which uses Hannah’s special tea blend) along with my first “second ferments” using Hannah’s flavorings.

I am really excited about this journey and hope you all follow along!
